Learning outcomes of the course unit:

The course defines film as an art, working with drama and epic. Students learn how to define, interpret and use those narratives.

Students must have passed Fundamentals on Narrative 1.

Course contents:

FILM: DRAMA AND EPIC

We will begin the course with an introduction to concepts relating to drama, as well as epic and lyrical narrative. We will analyse how these are synthesised through film. In addition, we will think about sorting audio-visual shots into sentences and sequences that deliver a narrative and will attempt to define their direct impact on the audience.
