By definition, visual storytelling might seem straightforward — it’s the art of communicating a series of messages using visual medium. The concept isn’t new, in fact, the phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words” was coined just after the turn of the 20th Century.
But the concept of visual storytelling is more relevant now than ever, especially considering our highly digital age where images are at the forefront of communication and in which there is a constant battle for viewers’ attention.
The core emphases of this workshop will be to build basic skills of how to sculpt an IDEA into a VISUAL COMMUNICATION, using the fundamental tools of Audio-visual. Understanding the power of a strong concept for an impactful communication. My special approach from an architect and a filmmaker point of view would be, to empower the students to learn how to work at various scale/levels of a project – from Whole to Part & from Part to Whole. The students will also learn the importance of three fundamental pillars of any communication process: Pre-production, Production & Post-production.

For 32,000 years people have drawn pictures but we’ve actually written for only 5,000 years. J.K. Rowling, arguably the most successful author of our generation, admitted that she actually drew Harry Potter’s world before she even wrote it.
„A picture is worth a thousand words“ is an English idiom. It refers to the notion that a complex idea can be conveyed with just a single still image or that an image of a subject conveys its meaning or essence more effectively than a description does.
