Part of the written thesis, at least one full chapter, (details given in class) must be submitted to the course instructor in order to pass the course.

Course Outline:

Session One 18.2

Expectations for course are reviewed

Updates from students on progress made since last semester.

(At the start of this course, it is expected that the title, subject and layout of the thesis is clear, that students have finished writing their introductions and have started to write the first chapter of the thesis. They have also contacted their thesis adviser and a plan for consultations has been made.)

Session Two 4.3

Students bring to class questions related to their work for the class to discuss. It is possible to use this session to screen a scene that the class can help to analyze if the thesis includes such content.

Papers are due on Monday 6.5 - one copy should be sent to instructor and all class members for discussion on 13.5.

Papers are expected to represent a chapter in the thesis (not introduction) and should be approximately ten pages in length, not counting illustrations or notes, following MLA standards, with footnotes in correct format.

During this last week, Instructor contacts thesis adviser for update on consultations.

Session Seven 13.5

Feedback given on papers received.

Course is passed or failed depending on the student meeting the criteria: Student has consulted with adviser, lectured in-class and on some aspect of thesis (treated in-depth), and submitted paper to instructor on time.

Upon completion of the course, the duties of the course guarantor are completed as well, and students continue to consult with thesis adviser.

Doporučená nebo povinná literatura

Individual according to thesis topic.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria

A passing grade is granted - upon confirming from the advisor - that the student has been consulting with the adviser on the thesis topic and evidence of completed work (additional chapter written since Thesis Mentorship 1) is presented. This written work will be due on the first Monday in May. The student must also attend, without exception, a minimum of 50% of the classes, (more is expected), in order to receive credit, and in one class present a lecture on part of the thesis' content to other class participants.
