Learning outcomes of the course unit

a) Presentation of student's work.

b) Discussions on presented works.

c) Presentation of information about recent events in the field and discussions assessing events.

d) Performance and presentation of guest works.

e) Discussions on technological issues, aethetics and other aspects of music.

Mode of study

Moderated discussions, discussions, analyses of student composition scores.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

a) knowledge of composition issues at the needed level

b) sufficient music theory knowledge

c) corresponding fomulation skills

d) overview of events in modern music works.

Course contents

An inseparable group element of the main study. Presentations of student compositions, refinement of viewpoint of the purpose and mission of the work, actual trense and technical issues. Development of the independent thought, analytical abilites and skilled discussion of young composers. Class participation, presentation quality and discussion activity are graded.

Scores and recordings of the covered compositions.

Assessment methods and criteria

Class participation, performance quality and participation in discussions are evaluated.
