Learning outcomes of the course unit

Acquisition of a basic overview of development of the organ from antiquity to modern times and a tracing of all the important development periods of organ music from the Middle-ages to the works of contemporary composers.

Course contents

This course follows the development of the organ from antiquity through the Middle Ages, Gothic and Renaissance periods. It continues to follow the development of the instrument in individual areas (Italy, Southern Germany, Northern, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, France and Bohemia).
