Learning outcomes of the course unit

This course provides a knowledge of orchestral literature and practice of the most important solos which an orchestral musician may encounter. In all courses the composers gradually appear and their important solos for Bassoon in the orchestra. This course works with domestic and foreign orchestra study editions and specialized part of Czech orchestras (ČF, FOK, SOČR, ND).

Course contents

This course provides students with knowledge of orchestral literature and practices the most important solos with which the orchestral musician may encounter. This course practices Czech symphonic and opera orchestral parts of the music of B. Smetana, L. Janáček, V. Novák, J.B. Foerster.

Recommended or required reading

Orchestral studies: Albin Frehsee, Emil Wipperich, Johannes Ritzkowsky, Czech Philharmonic parts.

Assessment methods and criteria

Assessment of instrument and Orchestra specifics. Fulfillment of establish repertoire. AKS certification. All concluded with the award of credit.
