Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course aim is to broaden knowledge in the history of dance. Lectures focus on a detailed historical presentation of particular developmental phases of dance, phenomena and figures.

Mode of study

Presentation, analysis of historical sources, source interpretation methods.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Completion of the survey lectures in dance history, i.e. Survey of the History of Dance and Ballet and Survey of the History of Ballet in the Czech Republic.

Course contents

The content is determined by the focus of scheduled lectures in the History of Dance Music and Development of Theatre Dance of the 17th and 18th Centuries. See those syllabuses.

Recommended or required reading

Survey of study material of individual lectures - History of Dance Music, Development of Theatre Dance of the 17 and 18th centuries.

Assessment methods and criteria

Dependent upon lecture content. In principle, credit is awarded for participation in lectures and study of the assigned literature.

During the semester readings of related texts and participation in lectures are required. Overall grading originates from these two activities.

Conditions for successfull completion of the course: participation in lectures, reading of the assigned literature.
