Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course aim is to expand the abilities of students to apply their acquired history and theory knowledge in independent work on a topic range according to the course intentions.

Mode of study

Discussion, text analyses, research activity, essays.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Presumed completion of bachelor's study in Dance Research or related study and bearing in dance issues and contemporary dance events. Linked to content in Dance Research B 1.

Course contents

The course syllabus originates in the course content. This is a critique course. Students, independently, work on assigned partial tasks and write a course paper. In their work they are to demonstrate an ability to search for source material, classify it, criticize and analyse in detail and develop the results in written form. Their manner of work and conclusions are compared in mutual discussion and in a comparison of results. Part of the course content is the tudy of assigned literature and its analysis. In the Critique course attention is focused on the creation of various journalistic texts and their critique and as well the students are introduced to the development of artistic and special dance critque with the theory bases and vantage points of art critique, important figures of dance review and periodicals.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on:

class participation

completion of the course assignments or essay

participation in research activities

During the semester independent reading and the study of other relevant materials and resources, participation in events in class, joining into research activity are required. These activities create the content for the award of credit.
