Prerequisites and co-requisites

Active participation in lectures, creation of variations of covered steps and their phrasing with an emphasis on their regional characteristics.

Course contents

Dance steps of selected regions: students learn dance steps of regions individually. Emphasis is placed on precise technique in a given step. Specific performance of a step in a given region is the foundation for creation of the character of the region. Later, steps are arranged with pairs and with various pair holds.

Technique preparations for a folklore region: Steps with the character of a defined area are joined into a larger whole. Simple steps are rhythmically changed and later more complex steps are added. At the end special steps of a given area are covered.

Dance motifs and their variations: Each step has its own movement basis. The division and diversity in performance of steps create the regional differences (sometimes between neighboring villages). Through comparison and examples of particular differences in class, we improve and come close to the character and manner of the dance of a particular area.

Combinations of steps: Vyšlapávana Polka with rhythmic stamps, Sousedská in turns and pair spins. ''Houbičkové'' turning girls under, pair Sousedská with girls turning under and girl lifts. Hulánový jumps with turns independentlz and turns under under joined arms, Hulanový jumps in turns and turns in pairs, basic step of the Hanácka Cófova in trios and girl turns under and weaving in the arms of the boy. Hanácká Stroll, runs and semi-runs, Hanácká Polka with turns and going thorugh arches in a semi-run. Průple in a neighbor circle in three steps. Mazurka step i npairs with turning the pairs and presentation of the girl. Jumps in squats with claps around the body and partner claps. Rhythmic exercises in 2/4 time with the Řezanka step. Rhythmic exercises in 3/4 time with the Mazurka step in three and two steps. Emphasizing the first, second and third beats and other manners of emphasizing quarter and eighth notes.
