Learning outcomes of the course unit

The exercise purpose is the acquisition of professional skills in recording musical instruments or musical group and the processing of the music signal for use in a autonomic sound piece. Exercises are executed in team collaborations with music directors or independently. In some individual exercises the stereophonic format is preferred.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Basic knowledge of acoustics, electro-acoustics, music signal theory and music theory. Assured knowledge in working with Macintosh and PC operating systems.

Course contents

Recording of solo instruments (singing), Chamber ensembles, Chamber orchestra, symphonic orchestra with solos, vocal choir. Combination of microphone systems. use of spots. Live mixing in contemporary execution of time, dynamics, color and spatial signal adjustments in recording a piece or creating sound for a stage piece. Post-production mixing, editing, color adjustments, overal dynamics and spatial arrangement for recording and automizing the signal processing procedure. Programming scenes.
