Learning outcomes of the course unit

This course provides students with the widest sense of the first basic overview of the artistic and technical aspect of working with sound and introduces tactics and strategies of sound communication as an artistic profession.

Course contents

Sound as a physical phenomenon. Communication tools and an artistic work.

Spontaneous, targeted and creative work with sound and its structure and application

Basic features of creative work with sound. Real sound, stylized, idealized.

Objective and subjective interpretations of sound

Sound perception, subjective sound association and imagination

Natural and artificial sound signals and their analog and digital forms

Concept of a sound object and sound information. sound composition and dramaturgy.

The relationship of sound and image. Considerations of sound and image information

Sound as an autonomous work and part of a multimedia work. Its presentation

Idea of a music signal. Music as organized sound. Sound style and structure

Performance tools of creative work with sound.

Sound dramaturgy. Its basic tools and procedures.

Basic principles in the structuring of drama sound events. Sound time and space.

Directing a sound recording. Its basic tools and procedures.

Studio and „live“ music recording. Their preparation and implementation.
