Learning outcomes of the course unit

The instruction focus lies in the study and analysis of selected compositions representing the main currents of music of the first half of the 20th century.

Mode of study

The most challenging course in composition analysis for composers, conductors, theorists and directors. At the beginning of the semester the instructor prepares for the students several example analyses. During the second half of the semester the students independently analyse a selected composition from the first half of the 20th century. General attention in analysis is devoted to the techtonic composition technique used. Part of the course work is a comparison of procedures determined in various categories of modern music and composers.

Students of interpretation specialization can choose this course as facultative.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
