Learning outcomes of the course unit

Emphasis is placed on the ability to functionally include skills acquired in the study of movement with other elements of acting.

Important is the close collaboration with the director or leader of a acting and stage project.

Mode of study

Exercises, analyses of media recording examples.

Course contents

Syllabus:

Grasping the basic concepts of one's own body, the of relation of the body to space and of the partner. Functioning in a group, work with real or imaginary props. Understanding physical action in a genre, work with a mask, clowning. Style of movement.

Curriculum:

I. Existence in space, a group and groups in space, geometrical division in space - circle, semi-circle, row, single file diagonal etc. Directions and balancing in space and spatial feel.

II. Work with imaginary props, exercises and etudes of various types and focus both for acting and for movement/dance.

III. Work with a mask, dramatic situations in connection with spoken word or song. Comedia dell´arte.

IV. Stage movement tied to a definite programme or project as part of graduation performances in the DISK theatre.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded: 50% for work on a project connected with classes in acting and stage direction and 50% for independent preparations and ability to join movement skills with other elements of acting.
