Learning outcomes of the course unit
Familiarization with the psychosomatic prerequisites for the acting profession and their mutual interconnection. Theoretical and practical familiarization with the creation of norms of pronunciation, their practical application in the formation of a character with emphasis on the style of a text, directing conception etc. Theoretical and practical application of spoken rhythm (organization of Czech speech by word accent and intonation) in various verse systems.
Mode of study
Instruction hour content is a complete introduction to issues of voice and speech not only from the professional - phoniatric perspective but in the overall theory of stage speech with procedures of various voice methodologies, the nature and form of phonetics and orthopedics, types and sound execution of dramatic verse.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Ability to perceive the body-mind requirements of the acting profession and their mutual relationships. Comprehension of the theory and practice of a speaking rhythm (Czech word stress and intonational division of speech) in various verse systems.
Course contents
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the psychosomatic equipment of the actor, the foundations for individual components of the voice and speech (respiration, phonation, articulation) in the brain's mechanisms. Specific features of speech on stage. Foundations of orthoepy as a prerequisite for stylistic differentiation of pronunciation. Spoken rhythm of Czech and its application in various systems of verse.

Assessment methods and criteria
Participation in instruction hours, review of one's speaking performance, completion of written assignments and final exam. To receive credit a minimum of 70% attendance is required.
