Learning outcomes of the course unit

Introduction to the basics of spoken word manifestations from the perspective of its stage potential.

Mode of study

A combination of the presentation of concepts and interpretation of student literary contributions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

  1. Knowledge of history and cultural perspective.
  2. Good bearing in Czech and World drama literature.
  3. Mastery of basic theatrology concepts.

Course contents

A study of the fundamentals of creation and reflections upon them from the viewpoint of the presence of the spoken word and its relationship to other stage expression tools.

Curriculum:

  1. From the street to stage show.
  2. Situation and dialogue, drama dialogue and stage shows.
  3. Visual, acoustic and internal-tactile perception.
  4. A dialogue and its staging (stylization).
  5. The spoken word and image.
  6. The spoken word in context of ancient theatre and further development.
  7. Narration and demonstration.
  8. The spoken word and its use in the ancient and biblical traditions and their application in further development.
  9. Prose and poetry.
  10. The spoken word and its use in modern and current stage traditions.
