Learning outcomes of the course unit
Ability to review constructive criticism on one's own and others' original texts, evaluate its positives and weaknesses and offer sensible ideas leading to improving the quality of the text. Empathy with others' texts, viewing not with „one's own eyes“ but „the writer's eyes“. Ability to accept and constructively classify critical comments by others on one's original text.
Mode of study
Class in which the instructor, with the students, uncovers original texts. We investigate dramaturgic deficiencies and positives and propose other potential work with the text. On odd weeks we work in groups particularly on texts from the current Authorial Readings course, and on even weeks the instructor works individually on texts by advanced students according to agreement (possible long-term development of the student's work).
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Participation requires completion of at least one year of Original Readings. Individual work will take place with advanced students upon approval of Dept. head.
Course contents
Development of student skills in critical reviewing foreign and one's own original texts.
Recommended or required reading
Primarily work with students' texts, occasionally with selected texts by writers outside the dept. or with original texts by Dept. of Authorial Creativity and Peagogy instructors.
Assessment methods and criteria
Attendance, participation, preparation and final work.
