Learning outcomes of the course unit
- Create impulses for general recognition of the importance of the psychological foundations of optimal functional individual vocal exercises,
- create the basics of vocal and psychosomatic condition of the individual; the need to induce the vocal exercises through a psychosomatic corresponding system. A harmonically tuned functional organism (in the sense of the harmonic interplay of a healthy, life-giving, mental, somatic and vocal event),
- a means for primarily conscious mastery of breath, which renews the harmonic balance between the body, thought and emotion,
- to understand the mechanism of natural (miscellaneous) breathing and its relationship to thought, muscle and emotion, that is, induce the principle of self-awareness and to attempt an integration of the rational, sensible and emotional mind,
- to warrant the reality that the voice is a communication of the quality of the human psycho-somatic and co-creation of an overall expression of the individual,
- vocal quality is reflected in the harmonizing of the consicious and subconscious life of the individual.
Mode of study
- Solo and group vocal instruction - student before the group,
- analysis of student written reviews,
- analysis of recorded examples,
- developed vocal skills, focused primarily on space and mass ideas - (ex: body mass - in vocal technique exercise),
- with the help of audio analysis it is possible to touch the interplay of tension of the body and mind-body,
- this is conscientious work with the voice and not the vocal imitation of the instructor.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Basic music-theory knowledge, high-school knowledge of breathing, voice and articulation instruments, musicality, presumed study
Course contents
Vocal training is understood as one of the components of original training of „quality self-realization“ in the sense of moving toward self-awareness of one's potential. This direction is labeled vocal training. This course develops personal and psycho-somatic skills, enabling students to adopt the skills important for diverse vocal communication (breath, voice, ortoepy, language dynamics, modulation, spoken expression).
Topics:
- imagination as one of the basic impulses for vocalization,
- situational idea and voice,
- mutual vocal and mental provocations aiming towards removing limited vocal habits,
- coordinating and linking individual vocal elements in practice,
- analysis of vocal professionals showing the psycho-matic relationships,
- working with texts,
- integration of knowledge and skills into creative projects.

Assessment methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on:
- work activity in exercises and classes,
- level of skill acquired and experience in use in independent original work,
- completion of two reviews at the summary exam in both semesters.
