Learning outcomes of the course unit

The goal is a mastery of costuming in all forms of theatre (drama, opera, ballet), film and television. A graduate in set-design/costuming and mask is able to independently create costuming (costume design) for all forms of theatre, film and TV and to work in non-theatrical production.

Mode of study

Individual consultations on assignments and analysis of dramas. Searching for inspiration in the context of the costuming narration concept. Consultations on proposals an investigating manners of execution. Material studies. Costuming implementation which will be presented at the departmental summary exam.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Ability in artistic communication, drama arts expression and conceptual thinking. Knowledge the basic forms of historical clothing and basic materials for costuming. Ability to work with a drama, its formulation, identifying its importance and meaning.

Course contents

The Master's level programme and instruction are individual. Curriculum is based on the Master's project and according to the dramaturgical pland of the DISK theatre.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on

Independent work in the studio and a minimum of 80% attendance at consultations (classes) throughout the semester.

Conceptual and dramatic thinking skills,

creative thinking in drama arts,

artistic quality of submitted proposals,

ability of space form continuity, drama space implementation continuity skills,

completion of all individual assignments,

proposal presentation at the summary exam.
