Learning outcomes of the course unit

Comprehensive knowledge of metal structures used in set-design. Ability to create technical documentation for modern metal and wood structures.

Mastery of upholstering and cardboard structure technologies used for making theatrical decorations.

Mode of study

The student acquires fundamental information at lectures.

An inseparable part of the study is a gradual management of the preparations of technical production documentation.

The student has the opportunity to participate in a one-day workshop. The event is focused on an instruction practical in which the students hand-produce theatre sets.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Thorough knowledge of topics covered in Stage Technology 1, 2 and 3.

Knowledge of uphostering and cardboard construction technologies for creating set-design objects.

Course contents

  1. Technologies for steel stage structures.
  2. Technologies for upholstered products in stage design.
  3. Processes for cardboard construction and technologies for creating theatrical decorations.
  4. Preparing technical documentation relating to the topic discussed.

Recommended or required reading

No suitable literature is available in Czech which would directly follow the lecture content.

Textbooks and accompanying writings are published abroad.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on:

1/ Completion of all requirements for completion the technical documentation assigned during the semester.

2/ Passing of the written test.

3/ Passing of the oral interview.
