Learning outcomes of the course unit

The student is introduced to the following topics:

1/ Painting in set-design.

2/ Classification of furniture and interiors.

3/ Lighting units built into set elements.

4/ Worker safety on the stage.

5/ The construction and demolition process on stage.

6/ Basic aspects of the influence of VAT on the set-designer's work.

7/ During the semester the student is required to complete comprehensive production documentation for a stage work.

Mode of study

1/ Lectures.

2/ Consultations.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Thorough knowledge of topics discussed in the courses Stage Technology 1-4.

Course contents

  1. Painting precesses when creating theatrical decoration.
  2. Theatrical decorations with respect to the operations aspects of the theatre.
  3. Work safety.
  4. Making a theatre decoration budget.
  5. Maing technical documentation for a whole stage design as assigned.

Recommended or required reading

No suitable literature is available in Czech which would directly follow the lecture content.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on:

1/ Completion of all requirements for completion the technical documentation assigned during the semester.

2/ Passing of the written test.

3/ Passing of the oral interview.
