Learning outcomes of the course unit

  1. Introduction to the current state of alternative and puppet theatre in the context of its history.
  2. Guiding students to being able link theory knowledge with experience.
  3. The art of selecting / distinguishing essential and peripheral.
  4. Development of the ability to manage a discussion on a given topic and formulate and defend one's opinion.

Mode of study

Readings, discussion, analysis of viewed performances and recorded examples.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

  1. General knowledge of Czech and world history and theory fundamentals.
  2. Ability to link theory knowledge and experience.
  3. Ability to take up and defend the covered topics with one's viewpoint.

Course contents

Theory and History of Alternative and Puppet Theatre 1 summarizes basic study knowledge with an emphasis on Alternative and Puppet Theatre acting and develops it in the context of students' creative work.

  1. Attendance at theatre performances and video screenings on selected topics.
  2. Discussion on viewed performances, respectively production video examples.
  3. Comparison on theory with experience. Checking how the students are able to apply the acquired knowledge.
