Learning outcomes of the course unit
Dramaturgy Consultations 1 prepares the students for executing production projects from the viewpoint of the overall dramaturgically prepared production.
- Dramaturgy Consultations 1 covers small projects little stagings, play excerpts, staged songs, etc. Students bring their production intentions which are prepared during the semester from a dramaturgical standpoint for implementation - primarily, of course, in cooperation with directing, set-design and often music components.
- The production process from the dramaturgy standpoint is consulted on throughout, including observation by the instructor of the rehearsal process.
- Students also consult on the program content of the prepared production.
- The resulting form subjected to student self-review and instructor analysis.
Mode of study
Consultations on previously submitted material. Consultations on the production preparation process. Individual step analysis. Analyses based on video-recording.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Student comes with a specific project which is proposed in a brief explication. The project original text, material or available references to originals sources is submitted.
Course contents
Consultations with students over individual phases of projects:
- Smaller production project - explication.
- Analysis of intentions, specification and subsequent formulation of the starting position of the project dramaturgy.
- Explication forming collaboration with other participants and theatre work components.
- Production preparation processes in the basic team project.
- Production implementation process.
- Analysis and self-review of the results including real and available documentation.
- Formulation of lessons from the whole production process.
Recommended or required reading
Study material will be determined as needed according to the needs of the entire production process of the project selected.
Assessment methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on:
- Assessment during the production preparations process.
- Analysis of project results including student self-review and documentation and also this in an interview by the instructor of the student at the end of the process.
