Learning outcomes of the course unit

Dramaturgy Consultation 2 prepares student for the execution of a production project from an overal dramaturgically prepared production standpoint.

  1. Dramaturgy Consultation 2 covers small projects - little stagings, play excerpts, staged songs, etc. The student brings their staging intentions which during the semester is developed and the production preprared from a dramaturgical standpoint for the implementation of a comprehensive - primarily, of course in cooperation with directing, set-design and often music components.
  2. The production process and acting component from the dramaturgy standpoint are consulted throughout, including an observation by the instructor of the rehearsl process.
  3. Students, also, consult on the program content and form for the prepared production.
  4. The resulting form is subjected to student self-review and instructor analysis.

Mode of study

Consultations on previously submitted material. Consultations on the production preparation process. Individual step analysis. Analyses based on video-recording.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The student is required to come with a specific project, which is submitted at the beginning in a brief explication, submits original text material or available references to the original project sources.

It is advantageous if Dramaturgical Consultations 1 has been completed, but it is not a condition.

Course contents

Consultations with students over individual phases of projects:

  1. Smaller production project - explication.
  2. Analysis of intentions, specification and subsequent formulation of the starting position of the project dramaturgy.
  3. Explication forming collaboration with other participants and theatre work components.
  4. Production preparation processes in the basic team project.
  5. Production implementation process.
  6. Analysis and self-review of the results including real and available documentation.
  7. Formulation of lessons from the whole production process.

Recommended or required reading

The study materials will be determined as needed according to the needs of the creative process.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on:

  1. Assessment during the production preparations process.
  2. Analysis of project results including student self-review and documentation and also this in an interview by the instructor of the student at the end of the process.
