Learning outcomes of the course unit

  1. The student receives a bearing in the basic types and directions of drama training from the turn of the 19th to 20th century to the present and is acquaiinted with the most significant figures of the field.
  2. The student is able to identify and classify knowledge of the profession based on to date study and personal experience.
  3. The student is able to analyse various types of and concepts in drama training.
  4. The student comprehends the greater context of the drama training field, is able to, verbally and in writing, formulate thoery knowledge in the field and define fundamental ideas.

  2. Thorough bearing in curricular documents
  3. Study of fundamental drama training literature.
  4. Completion of the course: Fundamentals of Dramaturgy, History of Literature for Children and Youth.
  5. Good bearing in theatre history.

Course contents

Organized knowledge of the structure of the field and its potential, goals, methods, techniques and forms. Drama training study material is set into a historical context so the student gains an overview of the basic stages of the development of drama training.

  1. Drama training as a system.
  2. Basic context of drama training (Drama training and other aesthetics subjects); the relationships of drama training to other disciplines.
  3. Theatre and drama as sources of content and methods for drama training.
  4. Forms of drama training.
  5. School theatre from the Middle-Ages to Josephine reforms.
  6. Children's theatre of the 19th and 20th centuries.
  7. Basic directions, concepts and figures of 20th century world and Czech drama training.
  8. Contemporary drama training.
