Learning outcomes of the course unit
Expanding literary knowledge for a given age level and form of Drama training, to be introduced to various types of subject material. Designate and formulate the criterial for selection and important elements of text analysis from the viewpoint of use in Drama training.
Mode of study
Discussion, readings, text analyses.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- Good bearing in theory and history of literature for children and youth.
- Good bearing in the development and dramaturgy of theatre played by children and youth.
- Completion of courses focused on didactics in drama training and related studies.
Course contents
An elective course focused on the criteria for selecting a literary basis, or freely formed topic from an analytical viewpoint of their use for various forms of drama training and age groups. This course allows the discussion of works, writer or genres according to student selection for need or focus.
- Survey of selected areas of literature.
- Selection criterial for literary bases for Drama trainings.
- Judging a selected literary work.

Assessment methods and criteria
Credit is awarded based on:
- class participation,
- a presentation based on the studied literature and resources,
- completion of the course paper.
Conditions for passing the course are the quality of the development of the selected area of the literary basis, participation in discussions, study of trade literature, or publication of one's work.
