Learning outcomes of the course unit

  1. Introduce the development and contemporary status of the media environment in the Czech Republic from the first-republic democracy through totalitarianism to today's situation.
  2. Investigate and find reasons for joining the media environment with politics and in the entire period of the development of individual types of media, domestically and around the world, particularly in Europe.

Mode of study

Lecture, visits and discussions with individual media representatives.

Course contents

Media policy and legislation in democratic cultures as one of the mainstays of implementing constitutional rights to freedom of speech.

Media - its types and particulars.

Assessment methods and criteria

Conditions for the award of credit are: class participation, completion of the semester paper assignment.
