Learning outcomes of the course unit

Seminar offers basic orientation in the area of artistic dance, focused on the needs of theatre criticism. Student become aquainted with basic dance technics and approaches, their specifics and their common historical kontext. Student is able to recognize and articulate components of dance performance and their specifics in connection with theatre theory.

Mode of study

Block seminar, total 18 hours.

None.

Course contents

Seminar is focused on the ability to observe dance and to articulate these sensations. Each block is devided into two parts: practical (dance class focused on chosen dance technics) and theoretical (observing and articulating of dance footages). During the seminar student orally presents an essay on given dance history topic and prepares a written piece about one the dance footages.
