Learning outcomes of the course unit
- To introduce students from all studies to the most elementary knowledge of theatre theory through a presentation of traditional Czech theatre-theory terminology.
- To introduce concepts through a detailed semantic analysis of individual terms and if possible in the most broad and subtle contexts, synchronic and diachronic.
- To introduce the contemporary, relatively applicable, semantic meaning of a given concept, and what manner, today, it is possible to learn and identify certain aspects of theatre issues.
- To introduce historical concepts - where they came from, which „school“ or person introduced it into theory and what importance and functional changes during the entire history it has gone through.

- Concept of theatre semiotics (Pierce types of signals (ikon, index, symbol) and symptomatic layers of theatre language).
- Concept of theatre language.
- Terminology of the Zich Aesthetics of the drama arts.
- Theatre theory concepts of Czech structuralism.
- Components of a theatre work.
- Components of theatre works.
- Theatre interpretation and non-interpretive theatre.
- Mis-en-scene.
- Directing, dramaturgy.
