Learning outcomes of the course unit

Over two semesters, students in gradual steps learn to collect, develop and analyse literary recordings and source documentation material of the most diverse sorts (writings, notes, reviews, photographs, arts artefacts, video recordings, memorabilia, etc.) which are the basic source of information for a theatrological study and which may in the most various of manners be combined and complemented. As well, students acquire information about the potential of and availability to critique studies in the theatre and history of theatre. Students adopt basic principles of creating a professional theatrological study.

Mode of study

Research, development and analysis of source material, discussions on course and results of research, research review and gradual creation of a professional study.

No requirements.

Course contents

The course prepares students in research tasks in theatre history and theory. Its content is the development of selected bibliography, collecting representative written, image or sound source material, its critical evaluation, development of topical commentary and final and extracted results of the research to independent theatrological study.
