Learning outcomes of the course unit

Through examples and analyses of dramaturgy strangeness of film noir we investigate claims that what in other genres are unpleasant deficiencies in structure are constitutive for film noir.

A familiarity with film noir and knowledge of at least some film noir films.

Vilem Hakl (b. 1975) - graduate of the Dept. of Screenwriting and Script Editing at FAMU (2009 BcA. - 2012 MgA.). From receiving his doctorate at FAMU in 2013 where he dealt with structure analysis of chaotic audio-visual pieces he has been devoted to film journalism and film essay (Film a Doba, Revolver Revue, Kino-Ikon, NAMU). As a screenwriter, her works mainly for Czech Television on feature film projects.
