Learning outcomes of the course unit
Overview of the main thought trends about film. Acquaintance with canonic writings in the main film theory currents. Preparation of one's graduation theory paper.
Mode of study
Regular classes.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The bachelor's theory paper, methodology seminar required for FAMU bachelors study (or similar academy, college). Willingness to review film (primarily the script and dramaturgy elements) from various angles and discussion in class.
Course contents
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the theory method and procedures in writing the graduation paper. Upon a general acquaintance with issues, regular individual consultations follow.
Syllabus:
- Selection and definition of topic - its explication
- Selection of material, bibliography research - including internet searches and use of professional databases, in priniciple as development of a list of sources and useful literature
- Citation methods, unification of data
- Outline importance and proposal / introduction, body, conclusion
- Recommended lenghth of the graduation paper, Czech and English Summaries.

Assigned writings throughout the course.
Assessment methods and criteria
Regular (70%) and participation (assignments - reading assignments, joining in discussions). At the close - development of the intention of the graduation theory paper, including the main bibliography sources.
