Learning outcomes of the course unit
A narrative film shot with television equipment.
Demonstration of television and film directing abilites based on the to date achieved knowledge.
Mode of study
Consultations with the workshop lead, working with actors, shooting.

Course contents
Practical exercise for all second-year bachelor students in the Film Directing Department:
A max. 15-minute narrative film, which will be assessed in terms of the work with the actor. Upon consultation with the workshop leader the student can choose between filming the performance in a three-camera link set up in the studio or real camera in combination with exteriors.
Submission deadline: Screenplay by March 1, DV, DVD and film submitted by Sept. 1 to the Film Directing Dept.
Implementation period: April, May
FAMU ATELIER - a 3 camera link set up, or real camera and exteriors.
Recording technology: BT CAM Digital, DV CAM (or 3 camera link) contact sound, post-synchronization, or combination.
Pure footage: up to 15 minutes
Number of shooting days: 5 days
Material: 10x30' Betacam Digital
Sound material: 2x CD-R writable, 1x S-VHS, 1x DAT 65
Image technology: BETACAM Digital
Sound Technology: Studio equipment or exterior Mixing table + accessories, recording to the BETACAM (in the event of the combination)
Editing: AVID, editing fequencies are including the transfer for sound post-production
Sound post-production: 1-3 frequency post-synchronized dialogues and 3 hours of post-synchronized background noise (outside the FAMU Studio), 4 frequency preparation of the mix (including post-synchronization editing) - digital sound editing, 2 frequency digital mixing facility, back transfer to BETACAM
Transfer: BETACAM - VHS, Server transfer to S-VHS with TC, DV-DVD, transfer of the whole year's results to 1 DV+2x DVD
Archiving: DVD - FAMU video library, further according to the archiving regulations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Submission of the narrative film of up to 15min. on KR. The work with actors and management of the technology is evaluated.
