Obligatory section:
Acquaintance with the fundamentals of analog and digital photography including manners of developing and archiving data, fundamental work with applications for developing photography; according to individual level of advancement we cover:
- types of negatives and positives of B/W materials and their characteristics
- developing B/W film - we show the developing room /tank/ and attempt to construct and develop a film strip
- types of color materials and potential for their development
- fundamental working with a camera - types of cameras for portrait, report and documentary photography and their technical characteristics
- we cover digital formats, archiving, attempt working with photography applications. These basics will be gradually developed using simple exercises.
One's exercise assignement:
1/ portrait r self-portrait - two photos
a/ stylized portrait - create photos, in which the one photographed knows that someone is photographing them stylized in the surroundings and working with the position of the body and facial expression, follow natural light conditions
b/ report portrait - photograph of a face or figure in some event, private or public. This is to learn to react to the situation, predict and wait for the right moment, focus on the image.
2/ still life - two photos:
a/ one photo of incidental still-life
- this must cover object composition in an attractive light atmosphes or still-life which piques you by the object originality and/or its combination
b/ one photo of arranged still-life
- try arrange a still life from objects collected around you and in a selected environment.
- this is not about composition technique of a geometric object but artistic photography
- other rules are the same as in point „a“
3/ Capturing an event - one photo capturing an event:
- event may be public or private
- a report portrait is to learn to react to a situation, predict, wait for the right moment, focus on the image
- image should communicate what kind of event it is and what it all revolved around.
Deadline for prints in 13x18cm format: 20.1.
Use true interest in completing all tasks, but do not overcomplicate life. The assignments are to be created in surroundings where they commonly happy; just try photographing them. It is important to sufficiently take pictures. Bring the photos that you like to class but did not make the selection short list.
Elective section according to agreement:
1/ thorough knowledge of B/W analog photography technology - photographic material, photograph and film development procedure
2/ group visit to an exhibition
3/ meeting with documentary and journalism photography figures.
4/ working with images on social networks.
