Course contents
Obligatory section:
Acquaintance with the fundamentals of analog and digital photography including manners of developing and archiving data, fundamental work with applications for developing photography; according to individual level of advancement we cover:
- types of negatives and positives of B/W materials and their characteristics
- developing B/W film - we show the developing room /tank/ and attempt to construct and develop a film strip
- types of color materials and potential for their development
- fundamental working with a camera - types of cameras for portrait, report and documentary photography and their technical characteristics
- we cover digital formats, archiving, attempt working with photography applications. These basics will be gradually developed using simple exercises.
One's exercise assignement:
4/ report of a selected or assigned event - at least 6 photos of the events in one's environment
- may be a event report where you were present, the event may be personal or public
- this covers learning how to react to a situation, predict, wait for the right moment, focus on the image
Deadline for submitting at least 6 printed photos in 13x18cm format: by 9.6.2017
In the exercise you work with your own interests but not over-complicating life. The assignment is to create it in the surroundings where you generally are, just trying to photograph it. Bring the class the photos you like but have not made it to the short-list of shots.
Elective section according to agreement:
1/ thorough knowledge of B/W analog photography technology - photographic material, photograph and film development procedure
2/ group visit to an exhibition
3/ meeting with documentary and journalism photography figures.
4/ working with images on social networks.
