Workhop with Mikaelem Opstrupem – Friday, 15. 3. 2019, Classroom KDT 217

10:00-12:00 Lecture in U1 – entrance free for 70 people

What is pitching, what is its sense, advantages and disadvantages. The most significant pitch ideas in Europe and the differences in formats. Who are the jury who participate in the idea pitch? In what phase of the film production process is it best to present a documentary project? Why is it always the producer and director that present the project.

Examples of trailers for pitching. What parameters are needed to take into consideration for judging if a documentary project has national or international potential? What does international financial support look like - generally?

12:00-13:00 Lunch

13:00-17:00 Pitching training in classroom KDT 217 – capacity max. 25 students - interested parties will be selected in advance - Register! Each student has 10 minutes for the presentation: visual and verbal. For approximately 40 minutes Mikael will comment on and discuss with students about their film project and presentation. Other students monitor the training.

Mikael's recommendations to the students for appropriate project selection for pitching training:

If you have time, you should edit the pitching trailer specially for this training. I propose not only for our meeting but also because the edit of a short sample from your film is exceptionally good exercise in order to find out what is the basis of your film. It is a creative tool in the film creation process.

If you do not have time to edit a traiiler, bring a sample of at least some selected scenes already shot. The recommended length of the visual material is 3-5 minutes. Films selected for film pitching should already be shot. Projects in the idea phase are not recommended.
