Prerequisites and co-requisites

General cultural education and sensitivity for the world of color around us. An complete enthusiasm for the cameraman profession in relationship to the concept of a film as a whole.

Course contents

Light and mass

Elements of light and chromaticity. Light source spectrum. Mono-chromatic lights.

Ton, saturation and brightness. Diffraction, decay, inflexion, Light absorption and reflection. Object surface.

Light remission and transmission. Thin layers. Light interference. Murky surroundings.

Colored lights synthesis

Additive mixing, subtractive mixing. Color filters. Color pigments.

Color tone arrangement systems.

Chromatic and achromatic tones. The color wheel. Spatial models of color arrangement. The tri-chromatic system.

Light in a space.

Anaysis of a lit space. Lighting and the character of the light. Absolute and relative brightness of the visual field space. Direct and indirect sunlight and its changes. Chromatic warmth. aerial and color perspectives.

The effect of a color

Color reality and its effect. Perception of color. Adaptation mechanisms. Simultaneous and successive contrasts. Color contrast memory. Color tone as an attribute of an object. Psychological, synestetic, associative, stimulative.

Art publications over classic and modern art.

Assessment methods and criteria

Knowledge of color and color dramaturgy. Exercise analysis. All theory preparations (analysis, FOT, preparations for Sen) for grading purposes must be submitted in printed form and in complete pairs (name, year of study, academic year).
