Learning outcomes of the course unit
An awareness of the boundlessness of genres in film, Equal use of expression tools (feature film vs. documentary)
- development of the cameraman - director relationship.
- adoption of basic lighting principles and use of ambient light in documentary genres.
- discussions about projects (terminology of basic thoughts and motivation and their conveyance to collaborants).
Mode of study
Systematic preparations of Camera Dept. students for functioning as a cameraman in a documentary film and their interaction with a director
Discussion, analysis, screening.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Completion of „The Fundamentals of Cameraman Practice“ in the 1st year of study at the Camera dept.

Preparation and analysis of student films
Comparison with invited documentary cameramen and directors
Papers on Czech and International documentary films.
Light and lighing sources, artificial - natural
camera movement in documentary film
Hand-held cameras and practice of skill with them
Composition aspects in a frame
Ethics codex in extreme social situations
Heat extremes and their impact on technology
