Learning outcomes of the course unit

Listening analysis is for sound designers and elementary skill which is essential (and not merely sufficient) requirement for successful mastery of their profession. The course is designed to develop music skills and sound design listening analysis.

Course contents

Hearing is to a certain extent a given. No less that given may through training be developed and improved. The first semester of listening analysis will be devoted to the development of relative hearing in music structures. Students should, upon completion, be able to through listening to determine:

a) intervals

b) types of chords

c) harmonic procedures

The second semester of listening analysis will be focused on the development of the specifics of sound designer's listening. Students learn to recognize and determine frequencies in continually more complex sound environments.
