Learning outcomes of the course unit
This course forms the obligatory elective course „Film Music Sound Directing Workshop“. The task of the course is to acquaint students with issues in recording various music genres with a focus on the use of music in audio-visual works. In the presentation specific differences between recording film music, radio, music for CDs, etc. are clarified.
Instruction goals:
Course graduates know the causes for differing approaches in creating music recordings for the appropriate purposes. There is a overview of the historical, cultural and technical relationships in recording processes and on the theory level students are able to set implementation steps in the recording of classical music forms and genres. This acquired knowledge may further develop in the elective „Film Music Sound Directing Workshop.“

Course contents
This course forms the obligatory elective course „Film Music Sound Directing Workshop“. The task of the course is to acquaint students with issues in recording various music genres with a focus on the use of music in audio-visual works. In the presentation specific differences between recording film music, radio, music for CDs, etc. are clarified.

- Recording solo instruments. Recording chamber orchestras and ensembles.

- Recording vocal music. Recording operas
- Recording music for audio-visual programs
- Recording and editing stereophonic signals. Recording and editing of multi-track signals.
- Use of signal adjustment devces.
- Automatic music mixing. Mixing music for multi-channel technology.
