Learning outcomes of the course unit
The aim of the course is to expand knowledge in setting sound with a focus on feature film and TV.

Conveyance of instructor's practice experience. Discussion.
Presentation focused on the setting up of sound for a feature film. The presentation is supplemented with AV samples.
Presentation in the second part is focused on setting up sound for TV.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Completion of the Sound Dept. 1st-year study courses. Active approach to instruction. Regular attendance.
Course contents
This course intends to expand knowledge of setting sound with a focus on feature film and TV. The presentation is focused on setting the sound for a full-length feature film, which is one of the most complex creative tasks of the soundmaster - sound designer. The presentation is supplemented with AV examples.
The presentation in the second part focuses on setting sound for TV.
- Topic: Introduction and fundamental knowledge of setting sound.
- Topic: Reception and recording contact sound in the creation of a feature film.
- Topic: Dialogue post-synchronization in feature film.
- Topic: Dialogue and music playback in feature film.
- Topic: Recording film music and use of archived music in feature film.
- Topic: Background noise in feature film.
- Topic: Sound editing and track mixing preparations.
- Topic: Mixing of a full-length feature video film for DVD and TV.
- Preparations and sound setting for television programs.
- The technical differences in recording film and television programs.
- Preparation and selection of sound technology for recording a television program.
- Sound dynamic and frequency extent in television work.
- Delay processors.
- Long-distance sound signal transfer, intercom equipment, intepreter
- Soundmaster characteristics in LIVE BROADCAST.

Assessment methods and criteria
Grading and credits are awarded for: participation 80% of the total of class hours and submission of the required work and that is:
a/ Analysis of the sound component of an assigned recent CZ feature film (4-8 pages).
Completion of the final interview.
