Learning outcomes of the course unit

Student learns how to establish and solve relationship between characters.CDM Directing and Cinematography (Master degree in English) students shoots this exercise in order to meet all requirements of fall semester. Small exercise executed within mentor´s workshop (of directing and cinematography workshop) within limited access to equipment.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Present a project during pitching, directors treatment delivery 3 days prior pitching (dir. Treatment has to contain essential crew members ? DoP and camera crew, production manager, set designer, sound deisgner). The execution of the project is preceded by successfully accomplished script (FAMU International), approved storyboard (Cinematography dept). Budget and equipment set remain as it is listed bellow in notes. No changes in equipment list allowed.

Course contents

Directing students writes and direct sshort etude up to 3 minute shot in one location (exterior or interior), which exposes situation among two/three characters, which develops toward a situation, which concludes in a kiss.

The artistic initiative comes from Directing student who actively searches for collaborating Cinematography student for this exercise.

Definition of the exercise: Joint exercise between Master degree student of Cinematography and FAMU International Cinema and Digital Media directing student based on script developed by directing student within the FAMU International directing workshop.

Assessment methods and criteria

The project is evaluated by the committee consisted of faculties and guests during the Fall term projects screening in the beginning of February.
