Learning outcomes of the course unit

During the course of this and the following tutorials students will develop a personalized approach toward the craft of screenwriting, as well as a distinct creative voice, that will allow them to pursue screenwriting as an avocation.

Mode of study

Classic workshop, work with the student and the text, which is submitted by student. If the instructors considers it necessary or appropriate, lecture of the theory may be included. An integral part of the educational process is the debate.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Screenwriting Tutorial 4 is the prerequisite for Screenwriting Tutorial 5.

This tutorial is open only to students who have been accepted into the screenwriting track of the CDM Masters program.

Course contents

Individual students specializing in the craft and art of screenwriting work intensively under the tutelage of an individual mentor on practical screenwriting.

Recommended or required reading

All of the works of Syd Field, Aristotle (Poetics), David Howard, Linda Seger, Linda Aronson, Richard Krevolin, Michal Hauge, and Robert McKee are strongly recommended.

Assessment methods and criteria

The script will be evaluated by the instructors periodically during the various stages of writing, and holistically at the end of the academic year.

Note

Regular attendance is neccesary.
