Technical Aesthetics of Sound

Exercise in the Television studio

Introduction to the TV studio and three-camera system, live editing and recording. Student may work individually or on a group project. Exercise: video (1-20 min.) One student assists with the coordinating of the exercise (graded with 1 credit).

Basics of visual effects

Lecturer: Michal Mocňák

The workshop is intended for everyone, irregardles of what you know or think you know about working with images using modern technology. This course helps you understand what all the technology, buttons, shifters and gadgets do. Important is an understanding of how and when to use those possiblities. Procedure, post-production of visual effects - This part is on theory and relates to basic concepts and their understanding. A view of procedures and techniques related to post-production. An inseparable part is preparations and planning. Practical I - Real examples with which we will demonstrate basic techniques in masking, retouching, motion tracking, keying and the basics of color correction (not grading but basics for compositing). This will all be demonstrated on The Foundry Nuke or Adobe After Effects software. Assignment and preparations for the final part where the students are to complete one trick recording. Practical II - completion of a trick recording based on the assignment (necessary for the award of credit). Workshop summary.

100% attendance in all modules, independently implemented projects according to assignment by the instructor.

Note

The creation of this course is a reaction to long-term experience with student limits in or significant disproportional knowledge of the basic use and context of audio-visual technology. It is intended primarily for 1st year students in Audio-visual studies. Other students are welcomed if space allows.

Instruction is focused on an understanding of the relationships of and entry-level skills in working with HW and SW in developing image and sound. There are a number of examples for this topic on the internet. For instruction we have selected the most appropriate considering the needs of our students.
