Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course aim is to introduce students to examples of minimalism tendencies in narrative cinematography.

Mode of study

Film screening - its analysis and discussion. Prepared block of lectures supplemented with examples.

Course contents

In the course will be, in each class, first, a screenin of some fundamental films which can be placed into film minimalism (The Last Days, Las Acacias, La Libertad, and others). The course is oriented, in particular, towards contemporary art cinematography of the 21st century but will include some excursions into history in which the most important film influences for today's minimalistic film with be seen (neorealism, Bresson, Ozu, Dreyer, Akermanova, Antonioni).

Assessment methods and criteria
