Course contents

Scholars working in such diverse areas as media studies, identity theory, democratic theory etc have begun to put the aesthetic dimension of their objects of study at the center of their work, even if they do not necessarily consider their scholarship to belong to the field of aesthetics proper. But that begs the question: what happens, if scholars take the practice of the artwork not as their object of analysis, but as their own modus operandi? Not thinking about art according to external (mostly rational, propositional) categories that more often than not follow the logic of the ‘written word,’ but thinking with art, thinking with images, thinking with sound, etc. … and how can that be effected?
