Learning outcomes:

After successfully completing the course, the student will be able to:

• Build vocabulary in meaningful, relevant context
• Develop critical thinking skills through discussion of current events
• Demonstrate improvement in their oral communication skills

Enrolment requirements:

B2/B2+ input level of English is expected.

Course contents

This course is designed to help students communicate more effectively and confidently in spoken English for variety of purposes: class discussions, presentations etc.

This course is suitable for both native Czech-speakers as well as international students who wish to improve their oral skills, including pronunciation and stress, and build their vocabulary.

Literature:

Study materials will be handed out to the enrolled students on a weekly basis.

Assessment methods and criteria

Credit is awarded based on:

• class attendance (min. 70%)
• class participation
• in-class presentation

All three elements are considered for the award of credit. The attendance and in-class presentation are required for credit.
