Learning outcomes of the course unit
Introduction to diving equipment, rules and risks.
Mode of study
Theory - Classes including fundamental information about diving issues with and without equipment.
Practice - assembling equipment, basic knowledge training in the water.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Ability to swim is an advantage and a condition for this course. Unsurmountable fear of water or movement under water is a significant barrier to completing this course.
Course contents
Basics of equipment diving in a pool with special focus on the needs of Camera dept. students.
Content:
introduction to diving equipment
basic physics for divers
physiology for divers
crisis situations in diving
diving signals
assembling equipment
basic diving movement skills under water.
