Learning outcomes of the course unit
During the module, basic procedures for printing with QTR will be presented, also the significance and function of Quadtone arcs and subequent potential profiling of alternative materials. Broadening the post-print material spectrum, the student through testing and comparison checks results based on multiple testing materials.

Course contents
Piezography is a technique of using monochromatic inks to achieve best possible results when printing black and white images. The Piezography and Advanced scanning module is focused on widening students knowledge in the area of prepress preparations for available piezography modified printer –EPSON Stylus Pro 3800.
First part of workshop will be focused on the specifics of scanning various materials – negative films in both black&white and color as well as color-reversal film of the Hasselblad Flextight X5 scanner and Nikon Coolscan 9000 scanner. And possible and or recommended ways to edit scanned files. The second part of the workshop will focus on introduction to the piezography technology and its print workflow specifically using EPSON Stylus Pro 3800. We will go through guidelines for using photographic materials with existing Quadtone curves as well as profiling of our own materials. During the workshop we will print on variety of materials to compare their ability to handle the print process.
