Learning outcomes of the course unit

Under the title „ You The Other Me – Photography as a dialog“ workshop conceives photography as an artistic practice between getting closer and transgression. It sees itself as an invitation to create an encounter and at the same time it questions the limits and the ambivalence of the medium, that suggests proximity and generates alienation. Principle of the workshop is to create relations between different works, both contemporary and historical, and investigates the range of different approaches between proximity and distance, contact and transgression, self- confirmation and confrontation with the Other.

Course contents

Today we live in a world in which, despite constant movement, networking, exchange and accumulation of information, we are less and less in contact with the unknown, the foreign and the unexpected. We move around in data streams of a „Me-in-the-world experience“, we confirm our emotional worlds, we appropriate our environment for our interests, we confirm our position. We ignore the other, whom we do not understand, the other, which irritates us and questions our experiences.
