Learning outcomes of the course unit
Establishing thesis topic, clearing the methodology and search for sources (films and literature).
Students present their Diploma thesis topic at the end of semester (end of January, beginning of February) and then get advisor assigned.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the first two years of master's study. + Thesis Seminar – Decision on thesis topic, preliminary outline, preliminary consultations, preliminary bibliography
Course contents
Individual consultations regarding the topic, preparations, and methods for the thesis. Group discussion during regular class sessions around thesis topic and methodology. Possible screening of scenes to be analyzed. Near week ten of the semester, students will „pitch“ thesis topic and methodology to a committee for approval.

Assessment methods and criteria
Pass grade is given to the student upon work submitted during the Fall term consulations.
Student should have 50% attendance at the seminars in order to receive credit for the course. It is necessary to have a completed and detailed written outline for the thesis, plus extensive bibliography by the time of pitching the thesis topic to the committee approving the topic.
By the end of the semester, students should have completed writing the introduction and be starting the first chapter of the thesis.
